Twain is located in the beautiful Feather River Canyon in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains, only 17 miles west of Quincy California. The barbecue rib cook off was held Sunday, August 14th. Excellent live music was provided by "Back 40" and vendors displayed items for sale. Cookers showed off their skills competing for trophies and prizes while the public enjoyed sampling their delicious recipes. This was their 4th cookoff. First place went to Susie Q's Barbecue, second was Q Town Barbecue, third was CJ Cromwell Barbeque, and peoples choice went to Al Carpenter.
Twain store and RV Park Resort has been a staple in the feather river canyon since 1961. Recently purchased by Joyce and Hardy Linda. “We purchased Twain Store & RV Park seven years ago with the hopes to make it a destination in Plumas County and bring back some life to the canyon, which was once a thriving community and destination area,” Linda explained. They lived in Greenville for 14 years, and now live in the living quarters attached to the store, hopeful to rebuild their Greenville Home.
There are many plans to restore the resort to its former glory. The miniature town of the old West includes a bank, a church, food parlor, and there is the Twain Village which has a play area with a ping-pong table and cornhole, and a post office. In the near future they will be adding a disc golf course. They recently finished a cabin for campers. The RV park is large and has plenty of spaces for tents and RVs, and even has a cabin available for rent. The RV store and Café has everything that a camper or visitor would want. They have a fabulous bakery Café, a specialty meat department, and all the groceries that any camper would need. Some of the favorites are smoked brisket, breakfast burritos, biscuits and gravy, burgers, and Twain sandwiches with house made meats and sauces. See more at twainresort.com or give them call
