On 6.5.23 While out patrolling near Stampede Reservoir, TNF Truckee Engine 371 responded to a mutual aid request for a vehicle fire on Westbound I-80 1 mile W of Floriston. As the first engine on-scene, TNF Engine 371 Captain Greg Lowdermilk took command, established scene safety and confirmed single occupant was safely outside vehicle before his engine crew in full turnouts with SCBA tanks went on air and started fighting the vehicle fire using the training they received from Carson City Fire Department during their recent Live-Fire training exchange. TNF Firefighters fully knocked down the flames, preventing any spread to vegetation before Truckee Fire Protection District arrived on-scene and command was transferred to TFPD Battalion 9 and TNF firefighters assisted with the overhaul effort including using TFPD’s hydraulic spreader to access the engine compartment.
A safe and effective Fire response resulted from the cooperative team effort.
