- This event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Old School House, which Musica Sierra will renovate into a community space dedicated to education and the performing arts. It also serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and cultural preservation.
The Old School House, Loyalton's oldest establishment, built by the Boone Family in 1867, is being revitalized through a community effort nearly two years in the making. Approached by Gary Nelson and the Museum Board, Musica Sierra and its board of directors, along with business owners such as the Gilded Drifter, The Top Story, The Rotary Club, The Sierra Booster, and many community members, have been working tirelessly to clean out the vacant space and bring Musica Sierra's vision to life.
In recent months, the City Council has been instrumental in finalizing the lease agreement and supporting this vision. Musica Sierra is deeply thankful for the unwavering support and passion dedicated to making this historical space functional for the community.
