“Swinging for the Schools” Annual Fundraiser for The Sierra Schools Foundation Another Huge Success
The 12th Annual Swinging for the Schools Golf Tournament, sponsored by The Sierra Schools Foundation, nets more than $12,000 Oct. 7 at Plumas Pines Golf Resort in Graeagle for educational programs for Sierra and Plumas County students. The golf tournament is the only county-wide fundraiser that proudly benefits students who attend schools in both Downieville and Loyalton.
The SSF Golf Team was thrilled with the golfer participation this year and the wide array of raffle prizes and silent auction packages. The golfers had a fantastic time competing on the course, visiting with old and new friends, and giving to the schools through silent auctions and the different ways to give throughout the day.
All proceeds will go towards grants for schools and teachers in the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District for school-wide project and programs in areas of educational need, such as in the arts, sciences, field trips, technology, and our student favorite: the Senior Project “Dream Big” Grants, as well as needed educational equipment for computers, software, ceramics supplies and curriculum and training for teachers. The tournament this year was sponsored by the ever-generous Plumas Pines Golf Resort and Brandon Bowling; the remarkable Gumba’s Family Pizza Restaurant in Blairsden, that despite the tragedy of the fire generously sponsored at the Premier Level; and Sheri and Paul Roen’s Clock Key Foundation. Additionally, large sponsors were: Anonymous Sierra County Resident, Robinson’s Bassett’s Station in Bassetts, and G4 Environmental in Loyalton. The sponsors help bring the entire event together.
President Jenna Holland said, “We were thrilled with the entire event this year and were once again blown away by the outpouring of support from our golfers, prize donors, and sponsors from both inside and outside of our community.”
The Sierra Schools Foundation would like to thank our sponsors, golfers, and prize donors who make the entire day so special!
