Suspect: Christopher Cortina, age 36, of Portola
On April 5, 2022, at 3:30 pm the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle out of Reno, Nevada that was currently parked at 3554 Grizzly Rd in Portola, CA. The deputy responded and located the stolen vehicle and contacted the resident, Christopher Cortina, of Portola. Cortina was arrested for possession of the stolen vehicle and was found in possession of a sellable quantity of a controlled substance.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office obtained and served a search warrant at the residence which is solely occupied by Cortina. During the search of the residence, Detectives located several ounces of methamphetamine, cocaine, hundreds of Xanax and MDMA pills, anabolic steroids, LSD tabs, psilocybin mushrooms, several pounds of packaged marijuana, numerous commonly abused prescription medications, scales, packaging, cash, and other items to indicate that Cortina was selling numerous narcotics from his residence. Also located where the narcotics were stored were several ghost guns, a loaded AR-15 style rifle and jigs for manufacturing firearm receivers. Cortina is a convicted felon for prior sales of controlled substances.
Cortina was arrested on numerous felony charges relating to possession for sales of a controlled substance and firearm charges. Cortina was transported to the Plumas County Correctional Facility and held on $500,000 bail.
The case has been referred to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office.
