State Route 70 remains closed to through traffic between Jarbo Gap (west of Pulga) and the Greenville Wye (junction with State Route 89) in Butte and Plumas Counties. Caltrans and contractor Nordic Industries, Inc. have completed rock scaling operations approximately 3 miles east of the Butte/Plumas County Line (approximate post mile 3), with debris material breakdown/removal continuing. The majority of emergency work has been completed between Twain and the Greenville Wye (approximate post mile 29.9). Paving operations are also planned upcoming at both of these locations. Work and assessment also continues in the District 3 construction area near Cresta following multiple significant slides.
Crews in District 2 and District 3 are continuing to work to reopen State Route 70 through traffic as soon as possible, pending future weather, activity, and area safety.
In addition, Caltrans and contractor Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. have begun emergency work on State Route 70 just east of the Greenville Wye (Plumas County, approximate postmile range 33 – 34) for an area of recent slide activity. Motorists should plan for 24-hour one-way traffic control in this area with up to 10-minute delays.
