On 01/28/2024, at approximately 1230 hours, Gossett (56 yrs old out of Quincy) was riding his snowmobile near Mud Lake in the Lakes Basin Area of the Plumas National Forest.  While riding the snowmobile, the vehicle struck a rock and Gossett was ejected from the vehicle.  During the collision, Gossett suffered injuries that kept him from riding out of the area with his riding partner.  Gossett was able to contact his wife and 911 and request emergency assistance.  Personnel from Plumas County Search and Rescue, Graeagle Fire Department, Careflight, Eastern Plumas Healthcare Ambulance, and the California Highway Patrol responded to the area to assist Gossett.  Gossett was located and extracted, and then transported to Renown Medical Center by Careflight helicopter for treatment of his injuries.
