Redding – Caltrans announced today it has completed the paving project on U.S. 395 in Lassen County, where travelers will notice smoother driving conditions after crews repaved about 16 miles of highway. The $2.8 million project was fully funded by Senate Bill (SB) 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
“Thanks to funding from Senate Bill 1, this pavement rehabilitation on U.S. 395 in Lassen County extends the serve life of a valuable regional thoroughfare and provides commuters, recreationists and freight movers with a smoother travel surface as they traverse our state,” said Caltrans Director Tony Tavares.
Crews recently repaved approximately 16 miles of U.S. 395 south of Ravendale, from just north of Karlo Road to 1.5 miles south of Ramhorn Road. Project elements include shoulder work, striping, and guardrail repair.
“With this project completed, motorists traveling along U.S. 395 will experience the benefits of the investments made in our region for a smoother ride,” said Caltrans District 2 Director Dave Moore.
SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually shared equally between the state and local agencies. Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly thanks to the availability of SB 1 funds, including projects that are partially funded by SB 1.
