AN ordinance amending section 2.04.070 of the Sierra County Code pertaining to compensation for county supervisors was discussed during the Sierra County Board of Supervisors’ meeting held Tuesday, November 1st in Downieville. The Board authorized cost of living adjustments for represented employees, mid-management, and department managers earlier this year. This ordinance authorizes similar cost of living adjustments for County Supervisors. County Clerk Heather Foster stated the adjustment would be an 8% increase in January 2023 and another 4% December 25, 2023. Supervisor Sharon Dryden stressed this was a cost of living adjustment, not a raise and was in line with what the other employees got. The Board was not a recipient of the prior COLA. Supervisor Lee Adams felt they needed to set the pay where they would have people interested in this job. After more discussion it was decided to increase it 5% in January and 5% December 25, 2023 of what mid-management got. The ordinance will be modified to reflect this and bebrought to the November 15th meeting to be approved.
A LEASE/PURCHASE AGREEMENT between the City of Loyalton and the County of Sierra for 105 Beckwith Street, Loyalton, CA was discussed during the Board of Supervisors’ meeting held Tuesday, November 1st in Downieville.
On August 16th the Board appointed an Ad Hoc committee to investigate expanding the lease at the Loyalton Social Hall for office space for the Information Systems Department. Board Chair Paul Roen reported they met with the City and they were willing to lease the rest of the building. Roen wanted to make sure it was a lease/purchase option. Probation Chief Chuck Henson whose department is housed in half of the building cited a couple issues with the agreement and wanted to make sure the City still does snow removal and maintains the grounds. Probation currently pays $900/month and will pay $1,700 for the whole building. $800 will come out of IT’s budget. With this agreement the County will have exclusive use of the building and would be able to upgrade connectivity. By consensus this item will be brought back for approval at the next meeting on November 15th in Loyalton.
