Summer is heating up! And while many of us look forward to the warmer weather, anyone can develop potentially life-threatening heat illness due to extreme heat.

In addition to looking after ourselves by staying hydrated, reducing salt intake and staying in air-conditioned spaces, it’s up to us to help keep neighbors and friends safe from the heat, too. During periods of high heat, make sure to check in regularly on people at greater risk:
  • Older adults
  • Infants, children and pregnant people
  • People with chronic medical conditions
  • Outdoor workers
  • People with limited personal resources
  • People living in places that lack green spaces
We encourage you to learn more about preparing for and responding to extreme heat emergencies. Together, we can keep each other safe this summer.
