The University of California Cooperative Extension and the Plumas-Sierra County Agricultural Department have been coordinating with local agencies to establish a program to provide access to commercial livestock operators within evacuation zones to care for livestock (over 50 head). During times of restricted access caused by a natural disaster in Plumas or Sierra County, this program may enable owners the ability to feed, water, transport and medically treat large scale commercial livestock.
The Plumas-Sierra County Disaster Livestock Access Pass will only be valid for operations with over 50 head of livestock located in Plumas or Sierra County (this includes seasonal operations). The program requires registration and mandatory training.
If you have completed the Disaster Livestock Pass training in another county and would like a pass in Plumas-Sierra County you will still need to register for the program.
If you would like to participate in the program or would like more information on the program please contact ASAP Tracy Schohr, UC Cooperative Extension Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor (email: [email protected] or tel: 916-716-2643) or Willo Vierra, Plumas-Sierra County Agricultural Commissioner (email: [email protected] or tel:530-283-6126)
