AT A SPECIAL MEETING of Loyalton City Council Tuesday night, it was approved to start clearing around the Belli/Van Daam property on Haggard Way, to put in a temporary fix of the water line and to reconnect the 10” water line. For clarification purposes Sarah referred to the leak location as Belli/ Van Daam but the leak is not located on their property. They are the nearest property owners to the leak. There were favorable opinions offered about City staff doing the prep work, and RDC on site to make the connection.
Mayor Sarah Jackson had explained they were not able to make the repair at the Van Daam site due to the volume of vehicles, equipment and sheds over the line. There is a need to fall ten trees with root balls fed by the leak with roots entwined in the line, besides significant brush and “stuff.” There has been $80,000 State Drinking Water funding which covers only regular work hours with an October 31st time line and it was felt the State would extend the specific job site emergency funding.
From the audience, Joe Dines offered to “come up with a crew” and volunteer to do the tree removal which the Council called “amazing.”
