Summary The nightly inversion failed to materialize last night, resulting in active fire behavior throughout the night in Divisions O and Z. The fire experienced backing, short slope driven runs and group torching. Firing operations were initiated along the Claremont Ridge, Division M, and N, on the east side of the fire. Firing operations will continue through the day and upcoming weekend to secure existing control lines. Fire crews continued to make good progress with mop-up in the areas of contained fireline. Line construction will continue with bulldozers, while hand crews construct hand lines in locations not accessible by dozers, tying in the road system to the south and east of the fire perimeter
Fire objectives for today: Crews will continue to protect road 24N20, the community of Quincy, private property, Infrastructure and cultural resources. Air resources will make retardant and water drops along Division M through the day to strengthen fireline edge while burning operations take place. During these operations aircraft will be visible from east Quincy. Containment efforts to minimize impacts to the municipal water supply for Quincy remain a high priority.
Weather conditions are expected to trend downward, but will remain above normal into early next week.
