lHello Sierra Booster Editor,
First off Thank-You for keeping Plumas and Sierra Counties aware of current events and the important reporting job that you do for our communities.
To introduce myself I am former Chair of Beckwourth Fire (as of Dec. 9th), and will be on the next Beckwourth Peak Fire District Board of Directors (as of Jan. 10th). So, as of right now I am in a position as a citizen, so will not be speaking on behalf of either organization.
I think that it would be extremely important to highlight to the public of the Eastern Plumas Rural Fire Protection District (EPRFPD), which includes residents in Delleker, C-Road, and the Lake Davis corridor, that do to the failures of this District they no longer have fire protection through their District, and it has forced the tax base of Beckwourth Fire and Graeagle Fire to subsidize this failed District. The response of these neighboring Districts is not guaranteed and may not be able to continue in the future.
There was a letter that is attached that has been reviewed by both Plumas Board of Supervisors as well as Plumas LAFCO which highlights some finer points, along with costs that were absorbed by the Beckwourth Fire tax base. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or if I can be of any assistance on fact-finding.
Best Regards,
Larry Smith
