2 Vehicle Collision, SR-70 W/O Parkers Road
On November 8, 2022, at 1639 hours, Mr. R Thompson (67 yrs old out of Loyalton) was driving his 1994 Chevrolet pickup, eastbound on SR-70 west of Parkers Road. The roadway was covered with a thin layer of slushy snow and R-1 chain control restrictions were in effect requiring all vehicles to travel at a reduced speed limit of 35 miles-per-hour. Ms. F Martin (19 yrs old out of Quincy) was driving her 2007 Ford pickup westbound on SR-70 east of Mr. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was driving at a speed unsafe for conditions and his vehicle lost traction on the roadway causing it to enter a 270-degree, uncontrollable spin, which resulted in his vehicle crossing into the path of Ms. Martin's vehicle. The rear of Mr. Thompson's vehicle struck the front of Ms. Martin's vehicle causing disabling damage to the Ford. Ms. Martin's vehicle came to rest in the westbound lane. The roadway was closed temporarily for removing the vehicle from the road.

Single Big Rig Collision, SR-70 E/O Caribou Road
On November 7, 2022, at 1245 hours, Jack Doerr (26 yrs old out of Chico) was driving a 2022 Peterbuilt tractor with a trailer, westbound on SR-70 east of Caribou Road. Mr. Doerr conducted an unsafe turning movement that caused the vehicle to travel off the roadway and over the steeply declining embankment on the south side of SR-70. The vehicle struck a stand of trees, which stopped the vehicle from further travel into the Feather River below. Big-rig tow trucks were summoned to the scene and the roadway was closed for two hours for vehicle extraction. Mr. Doerr was uninjured in this collision.
