Redding — Beginning tomorrow, Caltrans District 2 Clean California will host and participate in a variety of local community cleanup events as part of the second annual Clean California Community Days, aimed at cleaning up and beautifying the Golden State.
Clean California Community Days will officially run from Friday, April 19 through Earth Day on Monday, April 22, 2024. District 2 will conduct 13 free dump events and participate in three Earth Day events during the four-day observance including the Redding Rancheria Earth Day Celebration, the Master Gardener Garden Fair, and the Shasta Environmental Alliance Earth Day Festival.
Community groups, local businesses, and residents are invited to volunteer and join these events which are part of the ongoing efforts to keep the Northern California communities clean and beautiful, enhancing the area for residents and visitors alike.
“Caltrans District 2 is proud of our ongoing efforts to keep our region clean and safe,” said District 2 Director Dave Moore. “Our district staff have historically kept our areas of responsibility clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing and the past two years of Clean CA funding has helped call attention to the need for public participation as well and how we can all keep California clean and beautiful.”
Made possible through Governor Gavin Newsom’s sweeping $1.2 billion, multiyear effort led by Caltrans to remove trash, create thousands of jobs, and engage communities to transform public spaces. Clean California Community Days encourages local beautification efforts to clean up roadways, local streets, and public spaces.

About Clean California:
This event is made possible by Governor Gavin Newsom’s Clean California initiative, a sweeping, $1.2 billion, multiyear cleanup effort led by Caltrans to remove trash, create thousands of jobs, and join with communities throughout the state to reclaim, transform and beautify public spaces.
Since launching Clean California in July 2021, Caltrans and its local partners have picked up 2.3 million cubic yards of litter – enough to fill about 700 Olympic-size swimming pools. Caltrans has hosted more than 500 free dump days in communities throughout the state – resulting in the collection of 12,000-plus mattresses and nearly 50,000 tires. The initiative has drawn more than 10,000 community cleanup volunteers and created 15,000 jobs, including positions for individuals who were formerly incarcerated, on probation, or experiencing housing insecurity.
