The Sierra County Arts Council is pleased to announce the return of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to the Yuba Theatre in Downieville on April 7, 8 & 9. The Banff World Tour is one of the largest and most prestigious mountain festivals in the world! Hot on the heels of the Banff Festival that is held every fall in beautiful Banff, Alberta Canada, the Banff Mountain World Tour hits the road. With stops planned in roughly 550 communities and more than 40 countries across the globe, the Banff World Tour celebrates amazing achievements in outdoor storytelling and filmmaking worldwide. These incredible films take us on a journey, traveling to remote vistas, analyzing topical environmental issues, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports.
Take a scenic drive through winding river canyons on Hwy 49 to arrive in the picturesque Victorian village of Downieville and enjoy the festival in the historic Yuba Theatre, the smallest venue on the tour. This year sees the return of the full tour, including the Road Warrior, Paul Price. The Arts Council has been presenting the Banff World Tour for over 20 years. Award-winners and audience favorites are among the films that are carefully selected from over 400 films submitted to the festival each year. The Arts Council and the Road Warrior work together to make selections that provide an exciting line-up of films catering to our audience and providing a unique experience. Expect a full 2 and 1/2 hours of programming with intermission and prize draw. Refreshments provided by Downieville School students. We look forward to reconnecting with our Banff audience, friends, and family. Friday and Saturday screenings begin at 7pm. Sunday matinee begins at 2pm. Tickets available at www.sierracountyartscouncil.org or locally at the Downieville Day Spa (530)289-3504
