COMMON SENSE VS. SACRAMENTO: LA Council Member Traci Park, San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan & Other Local Leaders to Announce Key Milestone for Yes on 36 Campaign at Monday Press Conference in Venice
Sacramento: Together with San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and Los Angeles City Council member Traci Park, a coalition of Los Angeles area elected leaders, public safety officials and business leaders will convene a press conference this morning in Venice, where they will announce a major organizing milestone in efforts build support for Proposition 36 on the November ballot.
The conference, will take place at 10 a.m. this morning (Monday, September 30th) at 1503 Abbott Kinney Blvd. in Venice. The event will be livestreamed on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/mattmahansj
“Too many Sacramento politicians have attempted to dismiss the pleas of local officials seeking common sense solutions to address the crisis of drug overdoses, theft and homelessness plaguing our communities,” said San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. “We are not ‘just a couple of mayors’ as some have suggested, but rather a groundswell of local elected officials—mostly Democrats—fighting for responsible public safety reforms to end the suffering we see on the streets every day. The problem is neither partisan nor confined to California’s biggest cities, and that’s why so many local elected leaders from every background and every corner of our state stepping up to say Yes on Proposition 36.”
“Californians are done with the failed social experiment that has led to more un-treated addiction, retail crime and rampant homelessness,” added Los Angeles City Council Member Traci Park. “I’m proud to help lead the effort here in Los Angeles to support Prop. 36 and bring sanity back to our criminal justice system.”
