Plumas, CA – On September 27, 2024, Plumas County inmate Caleb Duerr escaped from the Plumas County Jail. This week, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office received information that Caleb may have returned to his residence in Johnsville, CA.

On the morning of October 17, 2024, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team, along with the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit, conducted an operation to determine if the information received was correct. Once the units established a perimeter, Duerr was eventually spotted at his residence. We immediately began to request additional resources from outside agencies.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Drone Team, K9 Unit, and Hostage Negotiation Team, as well as the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, USFS Law Enforcement, and units from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office K9, SWAT and Drone Team, FBI - Reno, Eastern Plumas Healthcare responded.
A plan was developed, and units approached the residence. Duerr was called out of the residence; ultimately, he surrendered without incident and was safely taken into custody.
Duerr was transported to the Plumas County Jail for incarceration and is being held without bail.
Sheriff Todd Johns wishes to express sincere gratitude to the community for their support, as well as to the allied agencies that responded and provided invaluable assistance to our county.

I read that The escaped inmate Caleb Duerr was Charged with Felony Domestic Violence with great bodily injury. Im very familiar with the incidence and I can tell you that there was no great bodily injury In fact the victim refused to be taken to the hospital by one of the officers because the victim said there is nothing wrong with me. Then later the victim asked the judge to OR him that is to release him on his own recognizance. Now ask yourself this if Duerr had caused great bodily injury, which he didn’t why would the victim refuse to be taken to the hospital and why would the victims ask the judge to O R him?
Why was he listed as violent and dangerous obviously the victim didn’t think so. Something to ponder in a time when nobody trust anything on the news
