RIVERSIDE SHERIFF CHAD BIANCO AND WIFE DENISE
Sierra and Plumas Counties' Republicans presented Gubernatorial Candidate, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco at a luncheon held at Sierra Valley Grange Hall in Vinton July 16th. Following a barbecue lunch, the candidate was introduced by Sierra County Sheriff Mike Fisher, who said he'd known Bianco through the California Sheriff's Association.
Bianco's Sheriff's Office is the second largest in the State and the 4th largest in the country. He is a proud dad of four grown kids and four grandkids with another on the way. He has served in law enforcement since 1993, Sheriff since 2022. He talked on how California is broke and failing with the high cost of living, price of gas and homelessness, calling it the worst. He called Public Safety the number one issue. He named Prop. 36 as having changed the direction of public safety.
He named construction as being "seriously under attack" by the State. He would concentrate on infrastructure, roadways, water, power grid and gas. California has the highest cost of living and the highest tax. He named gas as the number one driver to the cost of living with everything transported. "Gas must be reduced," he stated. $2.20 is regulation and needs to be removed, and he called it 100% controlled by regulation.
Bianco told his audience California has more oil in the ground than Texas and we import 80%, making other countries rich.
California is the least business friendly state and he pledged to make sure it's the best and Number One destination for business by eliminating regulations and lowering taxes so businesses will come back.
The median price of a California home is $950,000 while the rest of the country's is $400,000. It takes three years to build a home here with all the costs and fees, and one third the time in the rest of the country.
He told how the insurance industry moved out by regulation, "priced out of the business; damages too high," he said.
Education, too, is the worst in the country and California took testing away. He said its not the teachers or princpals' fault, but regulations and he said there would never be a 17-year-old boy in a 14-year-old girls' locker room under his leadership.
He told how he is fiscally conservative, saving $100 million by saving and not asking for more. He "guaranteed I know where every single dollar is spent."
Questions from the audience included Michelle Skupic who asked if Trump would support him. He stated he was meeting personally with the president and "It's all about strategy." Other questions included social media, change in the monitoring of elections, his stand on gun control ("Use both hands."), geo engineering, the Palisades Fire, Board of Forestry and the California High Speed Rail’s Train.
Gold Nugget Republican Women Colicia Palmer gave a plug for the clubs which offer valuable information and are part of the National Federation of Republican Women, celebrating its 100th year this year.
