Good morning Firewise teams and Media groups,
As we turn the corner into spring and summer, I wanted to reach out to all of you and express my gratitude for your continued work in making our communities safer. CAL FIRE, Nevada Yuba Placer Unit relies on Firewise Communities to promote defensible space and fire safe practices year-round. Part of our mission with state fire protection is fire prevention. Fire prevention comes in many forms, whether it be fuels reduction, forest thinning / pile burning and defensible space inspections. In the months to come, your communities will see an increase in defensible space inspections. These inspections will be carried out by our engine companies and our defensible space inspectors. All employees CAL FIRE has assigned to these inspections will either be in a fire engine or a marked DSI vehicle with uniformed personnel and credentials. The inspections that we will be doing are well known to all of you already. Thewww.readyforwilfire.org website has all the information to review and relay to your community members. Snowmelt and access into many communities will be the determining factor when you will see us out and about completing these inspections. Education of defensible space remains a top priority for the Unit. Please pass the word along to you communities that we will be in your areas in the months to come. It is never too early to start minimizing the fuel loading around your properties and manage the vegetation.
