REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Moon Lake Overlay Project on U.S. 395 in Lassen County. The $1.67 project will provide a thin hot mix asphalt overlay with isolated areas of concrete dig outs on U.S. 395 near Madeline, from 0.8 mile north to 3.8 miles north of Ash Valley Road. The project will also include shoulder backing, capping or replacement of existing asphalt dikes, and the removal and replacement of thermoplastic markings and striping. All work will be conducted on the existing roadway area and no work will be performed on bridge decks.
Construction activities are currently planned to start on September 9th. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 10-minute delays, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by early October.
