REDDING – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and S.T. Rhoades Construction, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the South Willow Creek CIR Project on State Route 139 in Lassen County. The $3.23 million project will repave a portion of SR 139 approximately 9 miles north of Susanville, from 1.2 miles south of Hagata Road to 0.9 mile south of the Meadow Channel Bridge. Repaving will be conducted via Cold-In-Place Recycling (CIR) method, milling existing pavement, adding recycled mixture, and applying a hot mix asphalt overlay. The project will also include shoulder and dike work, along with striping and pavement marker replacement.
Construction activities are currently planned to start on Monday, September 8. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 15-minute delays, Mondays through Fridays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by the end of October.
