Multiple Projects Underway; Delays Expected Throughout Fall
PLACER/NEVADA COUNTIES – Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects continue in Placer and Nevada counties.
Construction crews are working on final tasks and will winterize each project over the next several weeks. Motorists may experience delays up to two hours and are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:
Eastbound I-80
- Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project
- Near Magra, lane closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is also scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday, November 8 through 8 a.m. Saturday, November 9.
- Near Alta, lane closures will be in place from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is also scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday, November 8 through 7 a.m. Saturday, November 9.
- Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, November 4 through 11 a.m. Friday, November 8. Work is also scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday, November 8 through 7 p.m. Saturday, November 9.
- Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between Yuba Gap and the junction with State Route 20 (SR-20), lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, November 8.
- Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Crystal Lake, lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is scheduled to end at 6 a.m. Friday, November 8.
- Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 2 a.m. Monday, November 4 through 10 a.m. Friday, November 8. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, November 9.
Westbound I-80
- Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Soda Springs and Troy, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, November 5 through 11 a.m. Friday, November 8.
- Emergency Repairs Location 3 between Rainbow and Cisco Grove, lane closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 6.
- Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Crystal Lake, lane closures will be in place from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, November 8.
- Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between the junction with SR-20 and Yuba Gap, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, November 8.
- Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Yuba Gap and Emigrant Gap, various lane and ramp closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 5 through Friday, November 8.
- Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Blue Canyon, lane closures will be in place from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, November 8.
- Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Monte Vista, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, November 4 through 7 p.m. Saturday, November 9.

- Near Magra, lane closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is also scheduled from 8 p.m. Friday, November 8 through 8 a.m. Saturday, November 9.
- Near Alta, lane closures will be in place from 7 p.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7. Work is also scheduled from 9 p.m. Friday, November 8 through 7 a.m. Saturday, November 9.
Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
