Susanville, CA — 09/23/2025 — The Local Area Revitalization Project (LARP) Cooperative, in partnership with California Open Farm Passport, proudly announces Harvest Hootenanny 2025 — a vibrant community celebration of agriculture, food, and rural life. The event takes place Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wemple’s Pumpkin Patch, 450‐525 Wemple Lane, Milford, CA 96121. Admission is free and open to all.
The event aims to bring together local agricultural producers, resource providers, and community members for an afternoon and evening of learning, sharing, and celebration. Festivities will kick off at 2:00 PM with a producer meet & greet, local market & resource fair, farm tours, and children’s activities.
Several locally-led food and agriculture workshops will also be available: Learn from Fawn Robinson of the Susanville Indian Rancheria's Cultural Committee, who will be leading a Traditional Acorn Processing demonstration. Visit with your favorite local beekeepers Bailey & Flagan Watkins of Bitterbrush Farm & Apiary for their Meet the Hive workshop. Gather around to hear from your local craft brewing pros John Hulen, Larry Hulen, and James Merchant of Lassen Ale Works, and get to know the basics of getting started with their Home-Brewing 101 workshop. Join in with Susanville Community Garden Members Sue and Mark Nortrup alongside LARP Cooperative for a hands-on Summer Seed Saving workshop and discover how to clean and store seeds so you can keep your favorite varieties around for next season!
A farm‐to‐table meal will be served at 5:30 PM, showcasing ingredients from local producers and prepared by Susanville’s Chef Dustin Kelly of Side Iron BBQ. Meal tickets are available in advance for $35/ea — note that on‐site tickets will be limited and priced higher. Beverages will be available from Lassen Ale Works and Thompson Peak Lavender, with live music performed by Janesville’s Vince Rogers!
All proceeds from the event support local agribusinesses and scholarships for youth agricultural education and training. Sponsor the event, buy tickets, and sign up for the vendor/resource fair at LassenCoGrown.com/HarvestHootenanny2025.
“We hope you can join us for some local networking and learning,” says the LARP Cooperative.
