SACRAMENTO — Newsom’s California Air Resources Board is quietly pushing new regulations that could spike gas prices, and it has legislators from all parties worried.
As the Los Angeles Times reported today, unelected bureaucrats will vote — conveniently, just days after the election — to update the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, which could drive prices up as much as 65 cents per gallon.
Republicans have been warning against these new regulations since the air board published an analysis of the plan last year.
Now, even some Democratic lawmakers are raising concerns about the Newsom administration regulations. But despite growing bipartisan skepticism, CARB is still refusing to come clean about how much the plan will cost.
With gas costs set to skyrocket thanks to Newsom’s regulations, his special session on gas price spikes is looking like nothing but a sideshow to trick Californians into thinking he’s some kind of champion of affordability.
Only now, everyone seems to be catching onto his scheme.
