Dave & Jane Roberti were privileged to attend the promotion ceremony of Cynthia (Cyndie) Facciolla to her newly promoted rank of Colonel, United States Army on Sunday, November 24th, 2024, in Aberdeen, North Carolina. Cyndie’s cousin Army Specialist Elijah Sauceda served as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Dave Roberti was honored to give the invocation at the promotion ceremony. Brigadier General (Retired) Robert Woodridge presided over the ceremony. BG (Retired) Woodridge was Cyndie’s recruiter and training officer when she started Army ROTC while a student at Cal Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. He retired just nine days earlier in November of 2024 and was honored to promote Cyndie to Colonel. Cyndie’s Colonel pinning was performed by her mother Anne Facciolla Huebert, her father Frank Facciolla and Jesse Fish, and sister Louise Facciolla.
Other special guests in attendance included her niece Everleigh, her cousins Bill Braly, Monica Sauceda McBride (Shaun McBride), Elijah Gardner- Sauceda (Helena Xciv) and son Kassius, LTG (R) Buchanan and Mrs. Laura Buchanan, and Dr. Randy Wallstrum and his wife Nita. Dr. Randy Wallstrum, DVM was inspirational and instrumental in Cyndie choosing to become a veterinarian and she interned with him while she was at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo. A reception followed the promotion where family, friends and colleagues came from near and far to celebrate and congratulate Cyndie.
Cyndie has served in various duty locations including USMC base Twentynine Palms, 65th Medical Brigade-USFK, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) at JBLM (where she deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan and twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines), 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne), and Headquarters-U.S. Army Special Operations Command. She is currently serving as a Veterinary Preventive Medicine instructor for the First Year Graduate Veterinary Education Program (FGYVE) at Ft. Liberty, NC.
Cyndie is a 1997 graduate of Loyalton High School, graduated from Cal Polytechnic, SLO and attended Veterinary School at University of California, Davis.
