Construction Update for Gold Country Corridor

Projects Underway Along State Routes 20 and 49

PLACER/NEVADA COUNTIES – Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane closures in multiple locations along State Route 49 (SR 49) and State Route 20 (SR 20) as several projects continue in Placer and Nevada counties.


Here is the breakdown for next week:


SR 20 Projects:

• Pavement Rehabilitation Project between the Bear River and Skillman Campground, one-way traffic control is scheduled around the clock from 8 p.m. Monday, July 6 through noon Friday, July 10 for paving operations.
• Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project
• One-way traffic control is scheduled at the junction with Interstate 80 (I-80) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7. During operations, traffic may be held for up to 30 minutes.
• The SR 20 on-ramp to westbound I-80 remains closed until further notice due to bridge construction activities.

SR 49 Projects:

• Sidewalk Gap Closure Project, northbound along SR 49 between Education Street and Dry Creek Road, various lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. Monday, July 6 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 7 and from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, July 7 through Friday, July 10.
• Corridor Improvement Project between McKnight Way and La Barr Meadows/Allison Ranch Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. Monday, July 6 to 6 a.m. Friday, July 10. No work is scheduled during the daytime hours.

The extended lane closures will help minimize the duration of the work and improve worker safety. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.


Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
