On Saturday, August 16, 2025, deputies from the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office conducted a compliance check that resulted in the seizure of more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia and items commonly associated with the sale of narcotics.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., deputies arrived at a residence on Maddalena Road in Beckwourth to conduct an Own Recognizance (OR) compliance check on 47-year-old Robert “Bob” McDowell. As part of his OR release conditions, McDowell is subject to search, testing, and restrictions against narcotics use.
During the compliance check, deputies located McDowell inside the home and secured the scene. A detailed search of the residence uncovered methamphetamine packaged in multiple quantities, digital scales, drug pipes, and a large supply of small baggies commonly used for drug sales. In total, deputies seized approximately 53.5 grams (nearly two ounces) of methamphetamine.
Also located inside the residence were additional items consistent with drug use and distribution, including modified glassware, vials, and other paraphernalia.
Deputies arrested McDowell on multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance for sale (11378 H&S), possession of narcotic paraphernalia (11364 H&S), and violation of a court order (166(a)(4) PC). McDowell was transported and booked into the Plumas County Jail.
Additionally, 35-year-old Meagan Preston, who was located inside the residence, was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. She was arrested for violation of 11550 H&S and transported to the Plumas County Jail.
The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts that protect our communities and hold offenders accountable.
