Incident: Log Truck Accident on State Route 70

On October 23, 2024, at approximately 11:39 a.m., Garrett Taylor was driving a Peterbilt log truck eastbound on State Route 70, east of Mount Tomba Road. For reasons still under investigation, the truck drifted off the right side of the roadway and down a steep embankment.

The truck came to rest over 200 feet down the embankment on its wheels. Fortunately, Mr. Taylor managed to exit the vehicle, crawl back up to the roadway, and flag down passing motorists for assistance.

He was transported by CareFlight to Renown Medical Center for medical evaluation and treatment.

Traffic control was implemented for several hours while crews worked to recover the vehicle from the embankment.

Further details will be provided as they become available.
