Chad Hermann Appointed as Plumas County’s New Sheriff
QUINCY, CA – At their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the Plumas County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to appoint Undersheriff Chad Hermann as the new Sheriff of Plumas County.
Sheriff Hermann brings over three decades of law enforcement experience to his new role. He began his career with the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office in August of 1992 as a Correctional Officer. In June of 1995, he graduated 2nd out of 105 in his class from the prestigious Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Academy.
Throughout his career, Sheriff Hermann has served in various roles across the agency. He worked as a patrol deputy until 2007, when he was promoted to sergeant. In 2011, he was named Jail Commander and in 2020, he was appointed Undersheriff. He has also served on the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and was a certified weaponless defense instructor.
As Sheriff, Hermann is committed to continuing the work and vision of his predecessor, Sheriff Todd Johns. His priorities include:

- ● Strengthening recruitment, retention, and staffing across all divisions
- ● Advancing the Sheriff’s Office into a more technology-driven and innovative future
