According to the California Department of Health Services, California has new groundbreaking virtual mental health services for youth, families, and young adults. The two programs are BrightLife Kids and Soluna, which are a key part of California’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, a $4.7 billion investment for improving the mental health of young people and providing equitable access to all Californians.
The BrightLife kids program, which is a CalHOPE program by Bright Line, is for children ages 0 to 12 years old. This program offers free behavioral health coaching to all California youth. This is a no-cost and no insurance required program and no referrals are needed to get these services. This program offers video or chat-based 1:1 coaching with diverse, bilingual coaches. With on-demand digital tools, coaches are specialists on managing complex needs and referrals. For more information on this program go to brightlife.kids./ca or [email protected].
The other new program, Soluna, a CalHope program by Kooth, is the all-in-one mental health app for California youth and young adults between 13 and 25 years old. This service is always free and anonymous to help young adults to destress, reset, and seek support. They offer diverse, bilingual coaches and offer drop-ins for 1:1 coaching or if it’s more convenient, schedule an appointment. This program has interactive and engaging tools and offers a moderated community forum, self-supported guides, and articles.
