REDDING – Caltrans continues work on the Beckwourth Capital Preventive Maintenance (CAPM) paving project, which will overlay 24 miles of highway with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), improving ride quality on State Route (SR) 70 in Plumas County. The project also includes installing guardrail, paving three existing unpaved pullout areas, and replacing or upgrading/repairing 19 culverts. In addition TMS elements will be replaced at three locations, along with new signage.
UPDATE: Starting Monday, August 18th at 7 a.m., 24-hour one-way traffic control will be in effect between Beckwourth and Vinton on SR 70. The 24-hour one-way traffic control will end on the following Monday, August 25th at 7 p.m. Motorists can anticipate delays up to six minutes. The one-way traffic control is needed to help navigate motorists through an area of the project that is temporarily unpaved.
The $21.7 million project includes 150 working days, with all days requiring traffic control. The entire project is expected to be completed by winter of 2025, pending weather.
